Swedish term or phrase: butiksbiträdden and butikssäljare
What is the difference between the butiksbiträdden
and a butikssäljare ?
Aren't they basically the same job?

(as contrasted with the "kassapersonal" the cashier or check out clerk)

Explanation:
Though I do agree with Sven, I think that I'd expect a butiksbiträden to be slightly less active in "selling" - more stocking shelves, but also working in the tills (shop assistant), whereas a butikssäljare is more into "sales" - why you should buy this DVD player rather than the other, cheaper one... (salesperson).

Yes, but ...

Explanation:
Yes, but one usually calls the females "butiksbiträden" (and pays them less) and the males "butikssäljare" (and pays them better).

Please note the spelling of "butiksbiträden"!
