Swedish term or phrase: gubbmage
"'Det är sexton år sedan den bilden togs.' Det är sant. Den stolte unge pappan på bildan är inte den man som står framför mig. Ansiktet har blivit runt och plufsigt och fårat, ögonlocken tunga, ryggen kutig, och en liten ful gubbmage hänger ner över byxlinningen."

neutral  Tim Kynerd: Hmm. That might be better than my suggestion, but to my ear, "pot belly" conveys a larger belly than I think is meant here ("*liten* gubbmage").

agree  Lars Palmer: No doubt the best choice hear. I was thinking beer belly but you got it.

spare tire

Explanation:
"Spare tire" is only one term, but I think it's general enough to work here. "Beer gut" carries a similar idea, but of course that corresponds to "ölmage" in Swedish and there's no suggestion of that here.

beer belly

Explanation:
Another very common phrase is he has such a beer belly...... it is not only used in reference to someone who drinks beer but just for a little bit of a larger tummy to a lot larger tummy. Comes up a lot on google.
