1664 års jaktstadga begränsade allmogens jakträtt till praktiskt taget ingenting: det blev förbjudet för de ofrälse bönderna att överhuvudtaget jaga något djur på sina marker (undantaget de stora rovdjuren förstås, när det gällde varg och björn rådde tvärtom jaktplikt, vargskallen var obligatoriska för alla, utom för präster och gamla änkor).
