when the auditor have made a report of the Boards work for the year and declares them to have performed the responsibility without mistakes they are declared to have freedom from their responsibilities. This is what we say in swedish, but what is the legal english term.

Explanation:
AFAIK (as far as I know) there is no equivalent English expression. There is of course the same concept, but there is no word for it. Instead, we say "to adopt the report [and accounts]" and that amounts to the same thing - the whole Company of shareholders has accepted the report and accounts, thus implicitly taking responsibility.

My dictionaries all offer elaborate paraphrases such as "that the board of directors be discharged from liability for their administration of the company" or "discharge of the directors from all personal liability in respect of the period covered by the annual report"

neutral  Peter Linton (X): Sven, I hardly ever disagree with you, but here I do. Your translation is of course totally accurate, but my point is that an English reader would not understand what it means. Worse than that, it sounds as if directors seek to abdicate responsibility.
