branch connection (stub) Explanation: I'll go with this one, based on these references This is not quite opposite, is it. The 'avstick' is dividing (bifurcating) your piping from one (likely big) pipe to one or more smaller. The 'påstick' are the pieces leading from the avstick. That's the way I get it at least.
