Swedish term or phrase: allvarliga händelser
Detta räcker inte när man ska beakta allvarliga händelser.

Talking about how building codes are insufficient to stop the spread of fire during "serious events".

Would it be fair to use the word "disasters"? Or is there a less-powerful word I could use, since katastrof is really a disaster...

agree  amgt: sounds good to me However, "case of emergency" can encompass just about anything, at least in the AE version of the language, from the slightly serious incident to the extremely serious. So I still agree with the above.

disagree  George Hopkins: An incident is rarely an emergency. Sorry; should be 'a händelse'. Re Viachaslau's comment: a minor fire (incident) may develop into an emergency if not dealt with properly. Most fires are incidents that are dealt with without becoming an emergency.

-> thanks, however i've tracked the asker's questions, the source texts delas with building codes and firefighting in particular, and fire is quite a case of emergency, probably the first that occurs. Thanks for the input anyhow
