Verkar vara en rätt ny term för att beskriva: exempelvis: ett företag som arbetar med
vattenrening, de säljer exempelvis en funktion såsom: rent vatten, vad som
sen behövs i form av utrustning är då underordnat, det är funktionen rent
vatten som man köper.
Eller så kan det vara en som har levererat en tryckpress, utöver pressen så
har han tagit betalt för ett serviceavtal där han garanterar att pressen
klarar att prestera det som han lovat, därför måste han genomföra service
och underhåll kontinuerligt så att funktionen upprätthålls. Att jämföra med
en vanlig leverantör av en tryckpress som bara står för leveranser och
garanti om den går sönder.

I think you are right, this does seem to be a new word, with very few specific references on Google. But if I were in charge of marketing for the sort of companies you describe, I would not favour the obvious translation "function/functional supplier" but would go for something more catchy and more widely used such as "solutions supplier" or "systems supplier", which implies the same thing -- not just supplying something, but providing a range of services to the customer.
