| Reference: Not 'numbers racket...' Reference information: The Swedes removed a revenue source that in the US provided an early market for the US mafia. They did this by the government muscling in on the market and establishing a state monopoly or rather they were there from very early on. What do you say, when wiki uses 'random number games' (agree with Leif, mostly) and defines it as 'lottery-like' (agree with Vanda). If you go for the former, I'd say better to have the 'random' to distinguish more clearly from 'numbers game', which seems to be the historical marketing term used by US organized crime groupings. ;-) You've likely already read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numbers_game. |
