Es ist ein (geo)morphogenetischer Begriff für sich grossräumig zusammenschliessende Pedimente (Gebirgsfussflächen im anstehenden Gestein), die durch Pedimentation als Sonderform der Pediplanation entstehen. Pediplains können in ihrem Erscheinungsbild Rumpfflächen ähneln, aufgrund der verschiedenen Ausgangssituation und ihrer Bildungsbedingungen werden sie aber von ihnen unterschieden."
