Explanation:

Flavon, Flavon-derivate (von lat. flavus = gelb)
Vom Flavon leiten sich viele gelbe Farstoffe in Blüten, Hölzern und Wurzeln her. Beisp.: Chriysin, Fisetin, Kämperol, Quercetin usw. diese Farbstoffe haben nicht nur sauren, sondern auch alkalischen Charakter; sie könnn mit Mineralsäuren ähnl. wie die Anthocyane Oxoniumsalze bilden; gebeizte Wolle läßt sich mit ihnen gelb bzw. braun färben. Die Flanvon-Derivate sind mit den Anthocynen nahe verwand; durch Reduktion kann man die gelben Flavon-Derivate in rote bzw. blaue Anthocyane umwandeln; aus diesem Grund finden sich in vielen Planzengatungen gelb u. blau (bzw. vieolett od. rosa) blühende Arten nebeneinander ....
Nachfolgend werden einzelne Flavonoide behandelt. .....
Insgesamt gibt es ca. 150 Flavonoide.

Weil alle Flavoide natürlichen Ursprungs sind, ist Bioflavonoid eine redundante Überspezifikation. Es heißt nur Flavonoid

Reference information:
Vielleicht ist zum genannten Buch (s. Sibylles Antwort -> http://books.google.com/books?id=sQEsCBD8VkgC&pg=PA832&lpg=P... - s. Satz über Zusatzstoffe) ein Hinweis angebracht.

Es ist nicht so, dass diese sekundären Pflanzenstoffe, ob Carotinoide oder Bioflavonoide oder Isoflavone (-> Daidzein, Genistein) in Deutschland nicht zugelassen sind, sondern dass sie *isoliert" nicht Inhaltsstoffe von Lebensmitteln sein dürfen. So ist z.B. ein Apfelextrakt mit reichlich Quercetin (einem Bioflavonoid) möglich, nur nicht das isolierte Quercetin.
