Spanish term or phrase: a nivel de detalle
The context is (mathematically) modelling the risk associated with transporting hazardous goods. A previous article models large stretches of road (becuase the stats available are for large stretches), but this model refers to modelling 'a nivel de detalle', in other words, for very short stretches of road (for which specific stats are not available).

CONTEXT EXCERPTS:

I cannot say "in MORE detail" becuase I would have to have an implied comparison. And "in detail" sounds very vague...

Any suggestions?

Thanks to all, in the end I think I have to be more specific than the author, and refer to 'shorter stretches of roadway'.

-> you have a good point Jane, it's hard to know what is being referred to, very ambiguous and might even refer to the methodology as Ricardo suggests

OR

If your stretches is right....do you MEAN: LONG HAULS and SHORT HAULS

in which case, it could mean:

transporting hazardous materials as per types of HAUL....

long haul
short haul
medium haul...

it\'s not stretches of road..but TYPE of HAUL

The technologies selected must account for the unique characteristics of each segment of the hazmat marketplace ****(long-haul, short-haul, pick up and delivery, etc.)**** THIS COULD VERY WELL BE TRAMO IN SPANISH
The impact of using the technologies (cost, security) must be appropriate for the operational characteristics of the market segment. For example, munitions and explosives carriers are typically long-haul, for-hire carriers and already may be required to have communications and tracking capabilities. In contrast, the short-haul petroleum segment generally involves local fleets, working from a centralized dispatch and operating on thin profit margins and are not required to have the communications and tracking capabilities. Thus, technological solutions to the security issues must take into account the operating environment and the need to minimize the costs of the technological solutions.
A goal to address all the functional requirements identified by DOT.

I think you are right Ailish..tramo can be stretches of the road but in some context it would also be haul
