This is is what they are called. Cortes seriados is 'serial sections'

Once a suitable number of **sections** are ready, they are collected, placed in a 60oC oven for 20 minutes.

Sorry, I should have pointed out that they are sections because they are used for histological analysis (end of sentence). Were it not for that there could be other translations.

OK I have to comment here. Rowan\'s suggestion is fine in principle, I want to make that clear as I do not mean to criticise his answer in any shape or form. However, I am intrigued about the recent addition of an \'agree\' after I have added the above. On what does the member who agreed most recently base this. I know that the suggestion sounds right, but I can assure you, as someone who has sat for many many hours cutting sections of chick tissue for use in histology that they are talking about taking sections and the number of sections required.

If you read this Rowan, please do not take it personally, it is not directed at you. I am simply concerned by \'agrees\' when I am 100% sure here and I wonder how much they are.

In this sort of context, I think "incision lines" would work rather well. Incision is a good word for "corte" when talking of dissection.
