Spanish term or phrase: acontecimiento cristiano
Context is a Spanish document describing the history of a Catholic abbey in Spain:

El cultivo del estudio, especialmente de la Palabra de Dios y de su permanencia en la Sagrada Tradicióny en la historia de la Iglesia, así como la importancia que tenía para la misión de la Iglesia el fomento de la cultura que se deriva del acontecimiento cristiano mediante la educación, fueron percibidos desde el primer momento como una dimensión esencial de la tarea de evangelización.

Christianity
Explanation:
I don't think "acontecimiento" adds anything at all here. It can't be translated literally; it doesn't refer to an event. I think "acontecimiento cristiano" is just a variant of "hecho cristiano". All it means is "Christianity", and that's much the best and most natural way to translate it, in my opinion.

I must admit that there's another way to interpret this: perhaps "acontecimiento" refers to the practical implementation of Christianity -- Christianity in action, if you like -- in which case it could be translated as the practice of Christianity or Christian practice.

Thank you once again Charles! And yes, I agree with both of you that Christian practice could also be used here.

A Christian pronunciation (help·info) is a person who adheres to Christianity, an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth as recorded in the Canonical gospels and the letters of the New Testament. "Christian" derives from the Koine Greek word Christ, a translation of the Biblical Hebrew term Messiah.[1]

the Christian story

Explanation:
I think acontecimiento is important here, in Catholic evangelism the story is all important, you teach the story and from it you learn the culture that is held within it. I don't think it's just Christianity. It's the metanarrative that the church wanted to instil in people.
