Esta es otra tradición del folklore merideño en Venezuela:

"Los Judíos de Semana Santa

El jueves santo en horas de la noche, en la población de Santiago de la Punta (la parroquia), se lleva a cabo la representación simbólica de la pasión de cristo. Los participantes visten trajes vistosos (turbantes, cascos romanos y sandalias), llevan el rostro maquillado y cada uno porta una espada en el cinto.

Se representan personajes bíblicos como Anas, Caifas y Poncio Pilatos la guardia judía la constituyen ciertos sujetos que lucen trajes amarillos y gorras de telas oscuras y portan fusiles. Durante la celebración se toca una marcha denominada la granadina. Las fiestas concluyen el domingo de resurrección **al momento de cantarse la gloria**, y los judíos que se encuentran presentes huyen despavoridos lanzando gritos de arrepentimiento y terror, a la vez que uno de los jefes de la guardia grita: "verdaderamente, este hombre era el hijo de dios"."

The Hallel (Hebrew for "praise") refers to Psalms 113-118 and are chanted as part of the Passover service. This is clearly what is being referred to here. (see reference)

The "songs of praise" following the dash is optional, but probably should be added if you don't think the reader will understand what "Hallel" refers to.

neutral  Idoia Echenique: ok, except that bein a Roman Catholic rite, what they sing is the Easter Sunday "Hallelujah" or "Aleluia"

  -> Well, given the fact that they are talking about the events leading up to Jesus' death, it would be appropriate to speak within a Jewish context. Remember, the Roman Catholic Church wasn't founded until after his death.
