insurance taken out to protect the insured Explanation: "asegurado" = "insured" and NOT "insurer", and whilst Marian's comment to her answer is correct, reinsurance does also protect the insured, since, if the insurer does not have any reinsurance and cannot pay the claim because of financial diccifulties, then the insured could well lose out. 20+ years experience in international insurance.
