I think I'm being particularly dense here but I can't quite get a grip on the sentence. It seems a strange use of al + infinitive:

Para la medida de los disruptive behaviors en T1 se utilizó la externalizing scale del Child Behaviorl Checklist (CBCL; Achenbach 1991). ***Esta escala fue utilizada con el fin de control for disruptive behaviors en T1, al estudiar los outcomes de la hyperactivity ***. En T2, se utilizaron tanto las escalas Externalizing e Internalizing del CBCL, con el fin de conocer las dificultades que presentan, en la adolescencia, los niños que previamente mostraron hyperactive problems.

This scale was used to control for disruptive behaviour in T1 .......in the study of????

Asker: Yes, I mean that's what I thought but I think the fact it was at the end of the sentence and separated by a comma threw me a little.
