I was still unable to understand the use of "fuera" so I consulted the writer and she says it is short for "fuera esa objetividad la que fuera", then she goes on to explain: "(EJEMPLO: DIOS –DESDE EL SIGLO UNO EN LA TRADICIÓN CRISTIANA, LUEGO LA NATURALEZA EN EL RENACIMIENTO HASTA LA ILUSTRACIÓN, LUEGO LA RAZÓN, DESDE LA ILUSTRACIÓN HASTA FINALES DEL SIGLO XIX) IT WAS SOMETHING THAT NOBODY DOUBTED ABOUT. CREYERAN EN UNA COSA O EN OTRA, LO QUE NO SE PONÍA EN DUDA ERA QUE HABÍA UNA OBJETIVIDAD EN EL MUNDO..." Sorry the explanation is much longer than the question!!

So the sentence would go something like:

There is no necessary objectivity - of the kind represented in their time by God, Nature or Reason - that makes communication inevitable.

I can think of several other ways of putting it, but I am not in the mood to torment myself and think this one works.

Simpler version, closer to the original:

There is no necessary objectivity, as represented in their time by God, Nature or Reason, that makes communication inevitable.

What about "in their day"? A bit journalistic, maybe, not right for the context?
