The only similar term I can discover anywhere, by looking in dictionaries of jewellery, is "calota". The corresponding term in English, taken from French, is calotte. upsetting Explanation: This is a Catalan word, as Chris says (and it is misspelled, the proper spelling is "cabota" The first meaning of this is "nail head" and this concept is the idea here, though they clearly do not refer to any nails, thus the term has been incorrectly chosen.
