As a person with lung problems, I can tell you that there are two kinds of brochodilator medicines: one provides a long-term effect when you take it every day (forever)--it's called 'regular'; the other (typically an inhaler) you carry around with you and take a couple of puffs whenever you feel short of breath--called 'as needed'.
