So for example if 50% of the 1,000 people in your survey say they drive Norwegian cars, and the total population of Spain is 39 million, that extrapolates to 19.5 million people driving Norwegian cars. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 51 mins (2013-07-22 20:37:04 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- And the weighting is an adjustment to make sure your sample reflects the structure of the total population.
