This is an article analyzing the characteristics of the influent and effluent of different biological systems for wastewater treatment. More specifically, the authors are analyzing particle size reduction. I more or less know what a literal translation of the phrase would give, but I do not think that it is right. Here is the context:
Los coeficientes A y b usados para**** ajustar la distribución de tamaño de partículas a la ley de la potencia**** con el coeficiente β variable caracterizan perfectamente una distribución de tamaño de partículas. Además estos parámetros pueden ser usados para conocer la eficiencia de un tratamiento secundario. Según los resultados obtenidos la mayor reducción de partículas se consigue con el tratamiento de lechos inundados, a continuación con el tratamiento de lechos bacterianos y el tratamiento que conseguía una menor eliminación era el de biodiscos.
