Spanish term or phrase: de corte epistemológico
This is from a mathematical paper on exponents and the power zero. There are other mathematical types of cuts but I can't find this one, so I'm not sure whether it's an expression meaning,e.g. of an epistemological kind, which seems to make sense. sorry to be so longwinded.....
I'd appreciate any ideas......TIA
Here's the whole piece:

epistemic
Explanation:
The original is quite wordy, so I'd reduce the prepositional phrase to an adjective, as it really doesn't add any useful information.

of an epistemological nature

Explanation:
Corte as I understand it does not mean "cut" (except in the sense of a design, a pattern--like a dress pattern). In this case, it simple means "nature" or "character". Here are some examples:

the epistemological nature of mathematics and in part to misconceptions ... In Dennis and Confrey (in press), we trace this history, ...

be seen to be in part to be due to the epistemological nature of mathematics and in part to. misconceptions by mathematicians of how students learn. ...
