Need more context but... Explanation: In UK English this would be an "A" Level in Administration And in the USA I don't really know (maybe High School??), maybe someone from the US can clarify... There have been a few posts already on proz about this and it seems to be a hot topic of debate, but after translating a number of CVs and having this conversation a number of times I have come to the conclusion that for UK English "Bachiller" or "Bachillerato" are the final exams taken at secondary school or college BEFORE university. Here are a couple of definitions from reverso (Collins Dictionary online) http://dictionary.reverso.net/spanish-english/bachiller http://dictionary.reverso.net/spanish-english/licenciatura As far as I have been able to fathom out, in Spain, a diplomatura is equivalent to a standard UK university (Bachelor's) degree, while a licenciatura is a university (Bachelor's) degree with honours. I think the difference between a degree with honours and a normal degree has something to do with the combination of subjects taken and final classification of your degree, although I am not 100% sure on that so correct me if I'm wrong by all means. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2009-01-19 16:10:18 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://dictionary.reverso.net/english-spanish/bachelor |
