Spanish term or phrase: Trabajo en línea
This is from a document for a headhunting firm regarding the profile of the candidates for a position. The term appears twice in the document:

• Experiencia previa objetivamente acreditada, idealmente combinando la experiencia en consultoría de estrategia de recursos humanos con el ** trabajo en línea **.

También sería ideal la experiencia combinada de consultoría y ** línea ** en recursos humanos.

I suspect it may mean that they want the person to have had experience in an actual HR department/team??

The document is from Spain.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Oliver. I think your answer is the closest - and the first! I consulted my client and they said "Cuando hablamos de línea consideramos el trabajo en el Dpto. de RRHH de una empresa."

Online work

Explanation:
It's what I, and the majority of the people here do, so I'm used to reading the expression.

Sorry, I forgot to explain that it means working via the internet rather than, for example, face to face.

neutral  Andrew Bramhall: I'm used to reading it too, but in this context ...? Not sure .
23 mins
-> It's the contrast between "consultoria" (face to face) and something else, in this case "Trabajo en linea", which makes me think that the reference is to something which is not face to face here.

agree  eski: Makes sense to me. eski :))
42 mins
  -> Thanks :)

agree  Jenni Lukac (X): I'd ask the client to be sure, but this makes sense and it's what is usually meant in Spain.
53 mins
-> Thanks. I'd ask too, because Patinba's answer may be equally likely, depending on more context. But online work is what is usually meant in Spain, and HR people often spend quite a lot of time online as part of their work.

agree  Helena Chavarria: I was about to agree with Patinba's suggestion but I'm convinced "en línea" means "online". It seems they are looking for someone who has experience working both face to face (dealing people who are in the office) and online.

line management

Explanation:
Line-and-Staff Organizations - eNotes.com
www.enotes.com › BusinessThere are numerous ways to structure jobs within an organization, but two of the most basic forms include simple line structures and line-and-staff structures.
Line and Staff Organization
www.managementstudyguide.com/line_staff_organization.htmRel... to line of executives- In a line and staff organization, the advice and counseling which is provided to the line executives divides the work between the two.

Line and staff management has two separate hierarchies: (1) the line hierarchy in which the departments are revenue generators (manufacturing, selling), and their managers are responsible for achieving the organization's main objectives by executing the key functions (such as policy making, target setting, decision making); (2) the staff hierarchy, in which the departments are revenue consumers, and their managers are responsible for activities that support line functions (such as accounting, maintenance, personnel management).

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks Patinba. I would have liked to divide the points between you, Interpretwhisky and Oliver, but unfortunately I can only choose one. Since the customer said "work in an HR Dept." (but nothing about management) I chose Oliver.

agree  Charles Davis: I'm pretty sure you're on the right track here; "staff y línea" is used in the same way.
41 mins
-> Thanks Charles. The search seems to be for someone who has worked as a consultant, and has preferrably also had direct experience running an HR division. Anything to do with "on-line" work I would think applies to a much lower level job.

agree  Edward Tully: Makes sense here; the lack of "en" in the second example makes other options unlikely.

Human Resource Management (HRM)

Explanation:
I think that this text is highlighting a difference between Human Resource Management and Human Resource Consulting.

The examples include a blog piece which certainly implies these are two different roles and an extremely vague piece from wikipedia.

I've put low confidence because I'm not sure of the terms I've used; only that there needs to be an alternative suggestion to those already given.

Capitals completely unnecessary. And I've not explained myself well at all. Sorry.

Asker: Thanks Interpretwhisky. As I said to Patinba, I would have liked to divide the points between the three of you, but unfortunately I can only choose one.
