I think this works fine as a literal translation. Alliterative too!

agree  Charles Davis: I know "demagogy" exists -- the dictionary says so -- but "demogoguery" is what I've always seen and used.

Explanation:

Hello,

I read your expression: “alarde de demagogia” and the context. I see you are going to be an expert about Argentine History and the Peron’s dictatorship. (Difficult work!!!)

Okay, the translation of “demagogia” from English to Spanish is: “demagogy”.

The term “alarde” as noun is possible to translate as: “show, display…”

The term “alarde” as a verb is: “to boast of…” or “to boast about…”

I like to say: “show of demagogy” or “a show of demagogy” better than “display of demagogy”.

But if you plug this concept of “alarde” in your sentence as a verb, you can say: “to boast of demagogy”. (Maybe it is difficult to plug in your context, but it is strong term, because “display” looks light and in the reality the speeches of Peron always were a real demostration of who he was. He never hid his intentions...)

I bring you these options, you decide.

CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR WORK!!!!

Regards

Domingo

Again, Hello!:

I forgot to say, if you prefer to use "demagoguery" instead of “demagogy”, you also can say: “show of demagoguery” or “a show of demagoguery”.

The Free Dictionary by Farlex (online dictionary) says about:
“dem•a•gogu•er•y (d m -gô g -r , -g g -) n. The practices or rhetoric of a demagogue.”

It looks also strong!!

Regards

Domingo
