Y abundando en esta idea, tras la pregunta de Paula, sigo creyendo que es lo que el autor quiere indicar, que a pesar de estar sentado no está en una posición cómoda, cualquiera lo podrá comprobar imitando la postura descrita, por eso no creo que sea inclinarse hacia delante, \"leaning forward\", sino más bien \"not leaning back\". En mi opinión, otra forma de decir lo mismo por tanto, podría ser \"but not leaning back in his chair\"

neutral  Paula Morabito: porqué though? en el texto no está la de idea de though...// no lo veo implícito... ésta es una simple enumeración como recurso literario en la descripción, de ahí el uso de las comas.
