Spanish term or phrase: regente forestal
Hola!!! Estoy traduciendo el currículum de un profesor de nuestra Universidad. Indica que durante 2007 fue: "Regente forestal en Certificados de Protección del Bosque"... y no hay más contexto.

¿Alguien me puede dar una idea? ¿Cómo podría traducir esto al inglés?

Gracias!!!!

Literally it is "forest regent" probably the person in charge of individual managers.

Explanation:
I am sure of the literal translation, but lacking sufficient context I can only surmise that this person was in charge of several individual forest managers.

forest ranger, forester

Language variant: Forest Supervisor, Regional Forest Director

Explanation:

A 'forest ranger' is a hands-on woodlands resource manager with some policing power/duties, keeps records and supervises the laborers who do necessary work. Above him and rangers of equal rank would be a Targee National Forest Supervisor, and over the several national-forest managers would be a Regional Director.

Go to U.S. Forest Service website, www.fs.fed.us, to see some of the various titles and offices as they're named in U.S. terms. Of course other English-speaking countries will have varying job-titles, but the actual word 'regent' isn't used much here outside of educational circles. Hope this helps.
