I'm pretty sure that in the first case it's talking about performance. The problem is the second case. Is it referring to listening to music or performance?

it means to teach people how to LISTEN to music...in the US, we say: I took a course in MUSIC APPRECIATION...

in other words, a course about music for NON MUSICIANS...,.b ut will some music terminology etc. for example,
you are played different musical FORMS, like SYMPHONIES or CHAMBER MUSIC...and taught what to listen for and what the isntruments etc are and what the various forms are as in: suites, sonatas, etc. etc. for the piano for example...

Thanks Jane. Thanks everyone else as well. I know I was mainly asking for the second one, but I've now come across "analysis and perception", which seems to be the correct translation of the second one, so I've decided to give the points to Jane as I've used her suggestion for the first one.

I would go with audition. I have a minor in music and even for teaching degrees you had to have a primary instrument in which you'd take lessons, classes and audtions for performances that were required credits for every music major including teaching degrees.
