Spanish term or phrase: Bachillerato, Mención Prepara Regular
I am translating a birth certificate from the Dominican Republic. It states that the student "Aprobó el Plan de Estudios y las Pruebas Nacionales de Conclusión, correspondientes a:
-A la Educación N/A
-Al Bachillerato, Mención Prepara Regular
-A la Educación Media, Modalidad General"

I asked a similar question recently. In that birth certificate, the second bullet point had been "Al Bachillerato, Mención General," and I received the suggestion to translate it as "general (academic) high school diploma." Is "Prepara Regular" the same thing? The only thing I could think of was that maybe "prepara" was like saying "prepa," i.e. short for "preparatoria" (high school). I know they use that abbreviation in Mexico at least, but I'm not sure if it would apply to the Dominican Republic. If so, though, it seems like it would be synonymous with "bachillerato, mención general." Thank you!

High School Diploma by Regular Semi-Distance / Blended Learning
Explanation:
This is what PREPARA means in the Dominican Republic. It means doing the bachillerato by a combination of face-to-face class teaching and online/distance learning. It is usually for adults, but not only. There are two types, Regular and Acelerado, and the difference is that Acelerado involves more face-to-face classes. So I think you could call them Regular (in US English, really meaning "Normal") and "Intensive" respectively.

"Enseñanza semipresencial", which this is, can be called "semi-distance", "blended" or "hybrid" learning. You'll find all these options proposed, with adequate support, by checking the glossary.

"Educación Media a Distancia y Semipresencial para Personas Jóvenes y Adultas (PREPARA)
PREPARA es un Programa de la Secretaría de Estado de Educación (SEE) que permite finalizar los estudios de bachillerato estudiando en la casa, asistiendo a clase sólo 7 (siete) horas a la semana (el Bachillerato Regular) y 9 (nueve) horas (el Bachillerato Acelerado)."

There's a story in the Dominican press about a young Dominican, Carlos Miguel Patiño Santana, who got his bachillerato mención Prepara Normal while in prison in Puerto Rico, achieving the best grades in the RD that year. He studied with the help of a course on the radio:

"El interno cursó sus estudios de Bachillerato mediante el programa de estudios Radio Santa María, Padre Lamarche, que tiene incidencia a nivel Nacional."
