Graduate Assistant (GA) Explanation: Jessica, I agree with the term Graduate Assistant and would like to add a few things to the explanation. In the university system (US English), a graduate assistantship can refer to a variety of duties and appointments. For example: a graduate student who performs teaching duties in exchange for their fellowship, etc. is called a TA, teaching assistant. A graduate student who assists faculty with research is called a GRA, graduate research assistant. GA, or graduate assistant, is the overarching term. In this context, if we are unsure if the graduate student is assisting with teaching or research, I would go with GA, graduate assistant (the more general term). |
