certificate awarded following ordinary/extraordinary examination sessions Explanation: The ordinary examination session is held at the end of a term. The extraordinary (or retake) session is held later, for students who did not pass the exam the first time around. (Search "examen extraordinario" or "sesión extraordinaria.") I've seen "extraordinaria" translated most often as "extraordinary" in documents translated into English for students in the Erasmus programs, for example.
