Estoy traduciendo una certificación de lugar en la promoción de una universidad venezolana. Dice:

Índice académico promedio = grade point average o GPA

Sólo quisiera verificar cuál es la manera correcta de traducir la expresión que consulto, porque no logro encontrar un equivalente del concepto en inglés.

Degree program GPA parece significar algo diferente. "GPA of the students graduating in the degree program" es un poco largo.

El "índice académico promedio de la carrera" es el promedio de los índices académicos de todos los estudiantes de la carrera en específico que se están graduando en ese mismo momento; en este caso, el promedio de los índices académicos de todos los graduandos de ingeniería química. Así que en realidad, se trata de un promedio de los promedios de cada estudiante, por lo que pensé en algo como "mean GPA of students in the degree program" o "average GPA of students in the degree program", aunque probablemente deba usar "graduates" en lugar de "students" porque se trata de los graduandos, no de los estudiantes que no han finalizado.

Disculpen tanto detalle. ¿Alguna sugerencia? Muchas gracias por adelantado. La respuesta la extrapolaré a "índice académico promedio de la promoción".

I am operating on the theory that "indice academico" (please excuse lack of accent marks) is your student's individual GPA, and that when you add "promedio" you get the average GPA for all students in the program and, later, for the class.
