Spanish term or phrase: asignatura reconocida
This is a column heading in a transcript from a Chilean university.

The columns are:
- Semestre
- Codigo de asignatura
- Nombre de la asignatura
- Creditos
- Nota final
- Asignatura reconocida

I understand "asignaturas reconocidas" as subjects taken by a student in a previous study course, which are "recognized" as part of the credits required for his/her current course. Is it as simple as "Recognized Credits"?

There is just one entry in this column (for subject "AlemᮠI"), and it reads "CONVALIDACION". This further confuses me, as it makes me think there may be more than one way to have credits "recognized."

Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions!

Explanation:
I have translated similar documents before and found this is understood as a subject you have studied in another University and you are given credits for it.

agree  Teresita Garcia Ruy Sanchez: In Mexico they are called revalidación, and sometimes you don't have to have studied it just have to pass a test for it, for example if you pass the TOEFL most schools will give you credit for English.

agree  Alejandro Alcaraz Sintes: Yes, good equivalent. In Spain (normal usage): reconocimiento de créditos, but convalidación de asignaturas. Instead, of "subject", "course" is a possibility. Bw.

Hola María Eugenia, según mi experiencia, una asignatura reconocida es una convalidada en una concentración de notas.

Asker: Aprecio mucho tu comentario.
