hello,

I am translating an article about a Spanish salt tower from the 16th century. they talk about a garitón ( turret I think) and then a maracán .." on the main entrance door, this (door) faces south-west.

Can someone help me with the translation of maracán? I have looked here, WR,Linguee, I even have a mini dictionary of architectural terms and cannot find it.
