To me, "The probability that, being on channel...'' etc, reads differently and the entire phrase has to be reworded in English, I believe.

"La probabilidad de que, estando en el canal "x" se pase al canal "y", parece independiente de los canales "x" e "y" e incluso del individuo."
This is how I see the translation, as an example:
'' The fact that when one is on channel ''x'' (and it)changes to/jumps to channel ''y'' does not have(anything) to do with the ''x'' or ''y'' channels, including the individual/person.
