Bus/Financial - Advertising / Public Relations / newspaper report
Spanish term or phrase: no se confirme su participación
Context: "En nombre de la empresa yo pido perdón (...) sabemos que hubo daños, sufrimientos, la empresa lamenta profundamente aunque no se confirme su participación".

This is taken from a newspaper report regarding a case in Chile where the directors of a manufacturing laboratory have recently been charged with wilfully endangering public health. The quote is from the company's Managing Director.

I've come up with one translation but I don't like it particularly so I'm sure someone out there can find something better.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

even if its involvement is not (ultimately?) confirmed
Explanation:
Hi Andrew,

I wouldn't mind seeing the part in between but from my interpretation (Spanish from Spain), the "se confirme" would signal that confirmation of it's involvement is to be established by third parties. It seems to me that the aunque calls for a conditional structure.

Good luck!

I did wish to specify my "Spanish from Spain" way of reading it, because you've already stated that the text is from Chile, and their usage may be different from ours, which wouldn't be uncommon in certain verb structures (hence also doubts expressed due to the missing fragments, that might confirm or rule out my reading).

I'd also like to re-state my cofidence level as 'medium'. I wouldn't want to mislead you! :O)

does not confirm its involvement

Explanation:
to get the ball rolling...

the company expresses deep regret, while it does not confirm its involvement.

I like involvement here (maybe you had this already...), but perhaps someone can find something better than 'confirm'?

All the best!

maybe the company does not want to accept liability for anything the directors may be liable for personally

Isn't this the stock phrase in such cases? sounds familiar, anyway. See if you like it

Asker: I haven't got the part in between. This is taken verbatim from the article on the web page I provided above.
