These are three different grades listed on a transcript for a student who took courses in a communications program at Spain's Complutense University.

I would tend to go with, successively, "passing", "with distinction" and "superior" but I wanted to see if anyone knew if there were better and/or established equivalents in the Spanish context.

These choices seem to work best, although I think I like "superior" rather than "outstanding". Owen's suggestions very good as well, but would require more than one word in the cases of [with] merit and [with] distinction. Thanks to all.

Explanation:
Depending on where your client is, you might consider letters. These are standard in grading UK university courses. A to E are pass grades, and F a Fail. A is a sobresaliente, B usually a notable. Thereafter less easy to determine, but I'm sure someone else will help with explaining how the whole range of Spanish terms (bien, suficiente etc) match the English.
