Traducción no literal pero a mi entender más acertada, ya que a eso se refiere. Y te saco el problema de la palabra "historia" porque aquí se sobretiende. Además, en inglés es más común hablar de participación en los "mass media" que de "mass comunication" para el mismo fin.
