Spanish term or phrase: fajitas
The rastaurant has great fajitas.

[note: I assume the word fajitas is Spanish, however, originally it came from an English text. Therefore I'm looking for an explanation in English as well as a translation in Dutch (if there is any) Thx!]

fajitas
Explanation:
Een typisch Mexicaans gerecht, wordt meestal onvertaald gelaten.
Het woord 'fajitas' is het verkleinwoord van 'faja' wat 'reep' of 'strook' betekent. Het gaat hier dan ook om 'reepjes vlees' die worden opgediend met tortilla (Mexicaanse mais-of tarwepannenkoek).

Als omschrijving zou je eventueel 'vleesreepjes' kunnen gebruiken.

fajitas

Explanation:
'fajitas' is indeed a Spanish(-Mexican) word and is a kind of tortilla (mais pancake). You can find thousands of (interesting) recipes on the Net.

Rectification: I never said it was a typically Mexican dish. It is indeed a Tex-Mex dish.

fajitas

Explanation:
I agree with my colleagues (fajitas should be left untranslated), but I'm not too sure as to whether it's a typical "Mexican" dish; It might just be an American invention...

agree  Kathleen Ferny: zou inderdaad ook tex-mex kunnen zijn, het is misschien iets te lang geleden om het kaf nog van het koren te kunnen scheiden
