Kontrola efikasnosti rada UV lampe vrši se jednom Monthly izlaganjem 2 petri ploče (Ø 90) sa hranljivom podlogom za ukupan broj mikroorganizama (PCA) na koje je zasejano razblazenje od 200-300 kolonija dejstvu zraka trajanju od 2 min. Inkubacija PPLa se vrši na 35ºC, 48 h (inkubiraju se i 2 pp zasejane iz istog razblazenja koje nisu izlozene UV zracima). Ukoliko br. mikroorganizama nije redukovan za 99% potrebno je zameniti sijalicu.
