unevenly woven tenjiku cotton Explanation: 度目 is a weaving density (=gauge) of fabrics. I'm not sure about 度目違い, but it may mean that the fabric was woven with uneven density to give a particular texture effect. |

woven variegated/variegated texture(ed) cotton sheeting Explanation: Here are some of the 度目違い fabric samples: http://cgi.ebay.com.my/NEW-59-50-BANANA-REPUBLIC-BUTTON-FRON... http://www.varietyad.com/rha/index.php?act=viewProd&productI... https://www.chevronstore.com/inc/emailitem.asp?relationalnum... http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0062106916159a.shtml If you are translating a catalog with photos, you may be able to get away with just "variegated (like the last sample) as long as it doesn't indicate color variation. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2009-04-03 02:34:41 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Hi Stephan, Please note that 度目違い fabric is not always stripe pattern; I couldn't find good samples of linens and napkins, but I'm sure you get the idea. Also, I have some doubts about "cotton sheeting". Though it is used in Japanese web sites to mean "天竺(木綿)", or シーチング, it rather means "cotton sheets" outside of Japan/Asia, maybe. It's a type of plain woven cotton, . I may just say "cotton". Here is a list of fabric and cloth. Oh my, there are so many and I wish I can find a match! http://phrontistery.info/fabric.html |
