comparative civilizational sociology; sociology of comparative civilization Explanation: Although they are rather literal, names of academic fields are often like these. In fact, the title of the second link is "Journal of Global and Civilizational Sociology", and "civilizational sociology" is a legitimate field of study in sociology. 比較文明社会論 Clan, Caste, and Club: comparative study of civilizations Explanation: If I am not mistaken, this is the Japanese Title of Hsu's book, "Clan, Caste, and Club." I don't think it is a generic term of a study. The similar studies, I believe, are called "comparative study of civilizations." If you are translating the title of his book, you should use "Clan, Caste, and Club." FYI, here is the information about its Japanese version: 『比較文明社会論 : クラン・カスト・クラブ・家元』FLK.シュー著 作田啓一, 浜口恵俊共訳. 培風館 1971. Unfortunately this book is out of print now. |
