I understand Asker is looking for less physical term. However, 回転力 in Spring Model is a physical turning force. I feel that either Torque or Turning Force (in magnetic field) is an appropriate term.

「マグネティックスプリングモデルの基礎であるスプリングモデルとは、ノードを鉄のリングに、エッジを力学系を形成するバネに置き換え、リングの安定状態を見つけることで適切なレイアウトを求めるものである(図3.8)。それに対して、マグネティックスプリングモデルでは、スプリングの力の他にエッジに働く「回転力」を定義する。これによって、エッジの向きや方向の制御を行う(図3.9)。回転力を定義するのにここでは「磁場」の概念と「磁針」の概念を導入している。エッジを「磁針」とし、グラフが、ある「磁場」の中にあるとする。それにより、磁針であるエッジはグラフが置かれた磁場の北を向くように回転力が働く。」
