Japanese term or phrase: 作業性
Does anyone have a good way of dealing with this when it refers to the performance of work tasks, rather than the properties of a material?

For instance, by increasing the space available for a machine operator to do his job, 作業性 is improved.

'Working conditions' is perhaps a bit too broad.

'Work can be carried out more effectively and efficiently' seems to cover it semantically but is too wordy for my context. Anyway, can the concept also cover things like safety, or would 安全性 and 作業性 be regarded as separate?

working /performance
Explanation:
from the description provided, it seems that the term 'working' is suitable because of its comprehensive nature and simplicity. Other terms like 安先生 are more or less specific.
The term 'performance' seems to be another choice, although Japanese term for performance (性能) is different.

Smooth working or workability

Explanation:
Well, you are talking about the operator feeling comfortable in working on line. And if he is comfortable he can do his job safely as well. Isn't it? But if you want to emphasize on safety by adding a word on safety then you could do that as well. You can pick up as you like.
