Essi vengono concessi da talune società mutue assicuratrici e sono destinati ai Soci/Assicurati (vedi Art. 2546, 3° co. C.c.).
Sono determinati dal risparmio annuale, detratti gli accantonamenti prescritti dalla legge e quelli eventualmente previsti dall'atto costitutivo della società stessa.
La destinazione ha luogo generalmente, ma non necessariamente, sotto forma di riduzione del contributo di cui all'Art. 2546, 2° co. C.c. (rata di premio); il relativo ammontare viene annualmente deciso dall'organo deliberante della società mutua nella misura, con le modalità ed entro i limiti fissati dagli statuti sociali.
