Ein Schildbuckel ist eine "metallene Kalotte aus Eisen- oder Bronzeblech, welche zum Schutz der Faust auf der Vorderseite des Schildes aufgenietet ist. Unter dem Buckel ist im Schild ein Griffloch ausgespart, in dem der Träger den Schild an der Schildfessel führt.
