s. u. I'm translating a thesis on the olive oil sector. To cultivate olives on clayey terrain a "franco" of cultivation of at least 40-50cm is necessary ... I used a combination of both, adapting to "free from other crops and weeds" Agriculture .. TC although "clayey" is certainly used in English it is a terribly clumsy word. "clay soil" would sound better. ... English free of growth or without weeds I would not use cultivation in English...I would use Grow Olives free from other growth..and it's not terrain, it's Soil Advice: go and read the well written articles on Olive Growing written in English. That will provide lots of text matching possibilities... ... More on olive trees: Weed Control Although controlling weed growth is a simple process, many growers find it to be the most time consuming part of their ***young grove's management***. To achieve early crops, ****weeds must not be allowed to grow around or near the tree, especially in the first couple of years. Weeds compete for water and nutrients, and when totally out of control, even light. Competition from weeds will slow down a young tree's growth and may cause sickness and even death if not addressed.*** ***Keep a 'weed free zone' from the base of the trunk to at least 300mm past where the foliage stops.*** Jun. 27, 13:26 GMT ... English area free of other crops is my suggestion ... ... I think it is generic...You could plant one in a garden, then crops would not work. ... one olive tree, maybe, but hardly a grove, though I suppose that depends on the size of the garden... Jane Lamb-Ruiz [Jun. 27, 22:34 GMT] Well, I think the free of crops is obvious. 40-50 centimeters is not a measure for crops...it is weed-free area or area without anything growing...a cleared area.. ... A cleared area I like! |
