Volta a schifo Dalla volta a padiglione deriva la volta a schifo (o volta a gavetta, **volta a specchio**). Questa si ottiene sezionando una volta a padiglione con un piano orizzontale. Nella maggior parte dei casi si utilizza per coprire ambienti a pianta rettangolare ma, per la sua caratteristica di avere un piano orizzontale, in genere, la volta non è portante (cioè non è in grado di sostenere un solaio).
