Note of explanation to Jim.
I've been working as a travel agent for 10 years (4 in the US) and when my American clients want to stay in an apartment let's say in Maui, they say "I'd like to stay in a condo" as opposed to staying in a hotel. I think condo is shorter than saying apartment, this is why at least in the US I've heard it more often than apartment.
In Italy my clients would say for example: "quanto costa una settimana di vacanza in appartamento in Sardegna?", again, as opposed to a vacation in a hotel.

There are some properties which are only condos (buildings of apartments/condos only) like the one I have shown you in my link below, and others which have rooms AND apartments.

neutral  James (Jim) Davis: Hi Liliana, I've always been unsure about what a "condo" is in the US. In Itally a "condominio" is a whole group of apartments administered together. In the UK there aren't or at least weren't any I can remember. Thanks for all the details :-)
12 hrs
-> Yes, it's what you think:a group of apartments. Condo=condominuim. Example here: http://www.pleasantholidays.com/PleasantHolidaysWeb/Hawaii-H...

agree  Maximillian M Gold: forgot to say, "yes"... as for pax, was only ever meant to be used as an abbreviation on airline tickets etc. due to lack of space. Why hotels bothered to take it on I don't know.. no imagination??
1 day 3 hrs
-> I tell ya why Max: instead of writing "persone/passeggeri" in the Italian travel jargon we use "pax" which corresponds in English to the abbreviated written form: "psgr"/"psgrs".
