From an atto di compravendita, drawn up in Venice (I've changed the names etc.):

"in forza dei poteri conferitile con la procura in data 23.11.1993 dai signori JOHN SMITH, nato a Brighton (Inghilterra) il 15 giugno 1956, r.u.c. e JAMES JONES, nato a Manchester (Inghilterra) il 22 luglio 1965, r.u.c., nella loro qualità
di Amministratore e Secretary della società stessa;"

I'm sure this can't be a reference to the Royal Ulster Constabulary.

I have found "Registro Unico Cittadino" (the "registro unico cittadino per l'accreditamento di organismi operanti nei servizi alla persona" in Rome) on Google but that doesn't seem relevant in this context.

I think abbreviations including "registro" (registro unico del catasto, registro unico dei contribuenti) would need a number after them.

A "revisore ufficiale dei conti" could be either an accountant or an auditor - see IATE, the Codeluppi dictionary, etc. Certified accountant would be safer than chartered accountant as it's less specific - but I googled the real names of the people in question and they are in fact chartered accountants.

As far as I know, RUC as a qualification means that the person is a "Revisore ufficiale dei conti" (http://bit.ly/n4b6nL) enrolled in what was formerly known as the "Ruolo Revisori Ufficiali dei Conti" and known since DM 12/4/95 as the "Ruolo Revisori dei Conti" (http://bit.ly/n4b6nL / http://bit.ly/qROSww).

I believe it means that he is a registered (chartered) auditor, whereas "dottore commercialista" would be a CPA or chartered accountant.
